Grants & Scholarships
A common misconception about grants and scholarships is that only "poor" students can get them. We want to make sure you understand that not all grants and scholarships are based on financial need. Some scholarship programs award funds to students in a particular major; others may award money based on athletic ability, scholastic ability, religious affiliation, race (of the student or parent), or social activities.
We encourage you to research as many grant and scholarship programs as you can.

EJ Mays Scholarship
The Western New York Council of the CWA will provide eight (8) - $1,500 scholarships for the 2012 School Year. Applications will be accepted from Members, Retirees and Family Members of the eight participating locals within the council.
The Scholarship Winners will be notified via certified mail. The 37th Annual Eugene J. Mays Memorial Awards Dinner will be held at the Hearthstone Manor in January 2011 to honor the scholarship winners as well as the Mays Memorial Awards recipients.
You must be a full time student for the 2012 School year to be eligible, official notification must be recieved by June 30th, 2012 or the scholarship will be forfeited.
Have your application and Union Membership verified by your local Union Office.
Scholarship winners are drawn from a lottery of all applications recieved by the Deadline.
